The fourth of July began as a celebration of America’s independence giving us freedom from oppression, regulation, and excessive taxation. The Fraser Institute has tabulated similar measures of freedoms in the Economic Freedom of the World index. This tabulation measures an individual’s freedom to choose, freedom to trade, and the security of private property rights. These economic freedoms bring us prosperity and a cleaner environment. They allow us to have a healthier and wealthier society. Take a moment to think about the freedoms you have and what they mean to you and our nation. Thank you to all who have helped protect our freedoms.
